For over 25 years, Descriptive Scanning owner Russ Horner worked to find a way to satisfy his passion for personal histories. His business took several forms but it wasn’t until 2004 when he scanned his own family’s over 7000 photographs, 35mm slides and negatives that he realized the importance of digitizing and preserving other people’s treasured photos, films and documents.
Today, Descriptive Scanning digitizes old photos, photos from albums, negatives, 35mm slides, 8mm and super 8 film, video tapes and old documents. Photos are scanned at high speed right here in Richmond Hill and can be saved at a resolution that suites your needs. Photos that have been torn or damaged due to water or have just faded over time can also be repaired. As Russ spends much of his community time at the Richmond Hill Legion, he is happy to scan and repair a family photo of a veteran or first responder at no cost.
If you are interested in having your old photos or films scanned, simply gather them up into boxes or bags, and they will be picked up and delivered back to you at no extra charge.
